Edmodo is an online website that is free to join, that is similar to Facebook! Edmodo is used more for online classrooms, and allows students to attach photos, links, documents, etc. to posts they create. For my EDU 315- Critical Media Literacy: Values, Education and Society- we use Edmodo as a communication spot to share projects, experiences, and comments.
Within this tool I have been sharing what technology I see in my practicum classroom in 1st Grade. In my practicum classroom, my host teacher LOVES to use the ELMO, which is a projector that allows documents to be projected on any flat surface. Most teachers who use ELMO in the classroom, will project the documents on a white board, SMART board, or enoboard. Any document or object can be projected through the ELMO, which is a great way to allow every student in the classroom to see a worksheet they will be completing, an object, a picture, a book, and so much more. Above is a picture of a post I posted in Edmodo, and below is pictures of students using the ELMO projector.

To the left is the image I shared in Edmodo of my host teacher using the ELMO projector to share a poem with the students before they were handed their own copy! This is a great way to share information with the students. Before every poem the students get, she does three reading: just my host teacher reading the poem, a point and read with the student, and finally the students read the poem aloud together. This makes sure the students understand what they are reading before they get handed the poem to complete work. Using the ELMO projector makes this very easy to do! |
