What is it?
The Google for Education Certification Test (Level 1) allows educators to become familiar with and master the skills of many different Google tools. By being Google Certified, it shows how educators can use these standard technology skills and implement them in a classroom setting. Prior to taking the exam to become certified, educators can receive training and practice that is offered through Google for Education. This test has given me the knowledge and skills I will need to incorporate technology and organization into my future classroom. |
Why do it?
I was eager to become Google certified because it is a beneficial resume builder and a great learning opportunity. I began by working through the thirteen training modules, which included practice questions and a unit review at the end of each module. I completed the exam within the three hour time limit and passed on the first attempt! I definitely think the training modules and exploring the tools on my own helped a lot. Entering this training and exam I only knew about Google slides, docs and gmail. It was amazing to see what else Google offered that I didn't know about.
I liked how Google created a community for teachers, students and even businesses to stay organized and share files. There are so many ways to maintain an organized and structured system. Google Calendar is a great way to stay organized and even allows for the user to send scheduled meetings to those involved to keep them in the loop as well. Another great thing that Google offers, is the ability for students, educators, and even businesses, to collaborate without having to be together in person. This is great for students because they can work on projects together easily without having to meet. Everything can be done using a computer and Google; it has created an evolution for students, teachers, and businesses. My certification is good until March 7th, 2021, which is when I can take the exam again to keep up the certification! I am glad I completed the Google certification because I plan to use Google apps for education to help me become an organized teacher.
