Digital storytelling night is a way to incorporate technology into the classroom by using an app, Voicethread or iMovie! Voicethread can be used several different ways when introducing a topic, teaching a topic, or sharing information. iMovie is an apple product that allows users to create a movie on an iMac or iPhone by using pictures or videos along with many different tools to edit the product. At Digital Storytelling Night, students will be using computer based tools to create their own story through the use of graphics, video, audio and so much more! This allows students to express their ideas and thoughts. For this event, I asked students to bring in 3 to 4 artifacts that have special meaning to them. Their stories that they will create using these artifacts will allow them to share about their families, culture, trinkets and anything else that they would like to share.
I think digital storytelling night is a great way for students to share their work with their parents and their community! This allows parents to get involved and learn how their children's teachers are incorporating technology in the classroom. It is a great way to work on different skills such as: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Creating digital stories allows students to practice these skills without having to sit at their desk to completing worksheets. Finally, digital storytelling night is a great way for the community to come together to learn about the students and how technology is used in child education today.
