Pandora is a website that allows the user to play music through an free online account. By signing up for the free account, it is important to keep in mind that there are limits to the amount of "skips" per hour, and there are advertisements after a certain number of songs. However, this is a great website that allows teachers to bring music into a classroom for any ages. There are so many different options for stations that can be created. A key thing to note for using pandora in the classroom, is to make sure the user goes to "settings" and clicks on "content settings" to turn OFF allowing explicit content. It is important to managing the type of music that is played in the classroom. Once this is set up, the user can search artists, genres, and songs to create a playlist. Below I have linked a pandora I created that I would use in a classroom in the morning, while students were doing small work or during nap time if I were teaching a younger grade.
It is also important to ask students if the music is disruptive of their concentration!! Some students need silence to complete work, and by asking students shows you are willing to make arrangements. This being said, pandora may be only played in the morning as students came in rather than during small work.
I created a pandora with four playlists! There is an Ed Sheeran radio, Today's Hits radio, Classical study music, and relaxing music radio! These are all safe to play in a classroom because I made sure to turn off the explicit content!
